You don’t have to do it every time you are done using an app, but you’d be surprised how many of them are running in the background. That’s why some social media apps have new content and videos already loaded when you open them. Both Android and iPhone have simple steps to close all your apps. 

5.	Go for offline GPS maps. 
While travelling, the navigation app is one of the reasons why your phone data are still used up, even though you are barely checking your newsfeeds. They can suck a lot of data. A smart move would be to download the map after you search the location and load all the street names. On Android, you could hit the download in the toolbar. On iPhones, you can see the location saved automatically after you go offline.

On top of high speed mobile network, 5G is also expected to revolutionize and strengthen e-Health such as remote surveillance, telemedicine, telesurgeries etc. 
However, recently there have been claims of 5G having adverse health-related concerns. 
According to the WHO, to date, and after much research, no adverse health effects have been causally linked to wireless technologies. Common health-related conclusions are drawn from the studies performed across the entire radio spectrum, but so far, only a few studies have been carried out at the frequencies to be used by 5G. 


**What is 5G?**

5G, or fifth generation, first widely deployed in 2019, is the latest wireless mobile phone technology. 5G is expected to possess speed and performance ten times faster than 4G networks. 5G is not very different from previous networks, such as 3G and 4G. The only difference with 5G is that we would be exposed to something called **millimetre waves** for the first time. 


**Millimetre waves**

Both mobile phones and telecom antennas emit non-ionising electromagnetic radiation and the same are also emitted by microwave ovens and power lines. On the other hand, ionising radiation includes X-rays and nuclear radiation, which has proven harmful effect on human health. Millimetre waves are also non-ionising radiation, and all that is known is that they don't penetrate the skin like other lower-frequency waves currently being used. More research is needed to find out about millimetre waves, and till then, like all new technology, we can only partially rule out millimeter wave’s adverse effects on human health. 


**What are the existing effects on health?**

Interestingly, studies showing that exposure to electromagnetic radiation can be carcinogenic also put aloe Vera leaves in the same category, and the research place the workers in barber shops exposed to hairdressers' chemicals in a higher risk category.
Thousands of scientific research has proven that there are no health risks from exposure to low levels of radio frequency EMF from cell phones, antennas and 5G devices. The only adverse health effects that can occur at levels of EMF higher than permissible are:
1. Tissue heating, such as skin warming 
2. Nerve stimulation, which can result in a tingling sensation in your skin. 

These effects depend on a combination of the following:
1. The intensity of radiotherapy EMF exposure 
2. How long you are exposed to radiofrequency EMF 
3. The distance of your body from the source of radiofrequency EMF

For instance, the electromagnetic field emitted is much higher by cell phone towers and antennas than by your cell phones. So the exposure to high-level radiation is considerably lower since the locations of the towers and antennas are usually on rooftops and at points far away from a cell phone user. Despite the science that proves that 5G has no harmful effects, for your peace of mind, you can reduce exposure to electromagnetic radiation by: 

1. Texting instead of calling 
2. Using hands-free devices such as Bluetooth headphones
3. Limiting the length of cellphones calls 
4. Making phone calls from a location with good network connections 

So, is 5G harmful to human health? The answer is not entirely a no; researchers say it's complicated. Although many social media claims have pointed to research confirming the harmful effect of 5G on human health, none meet the criteria required to establish the scientific evidence for adverse health effects. The existing studies point to no adverse harmful effects of low-frequency EMF. Since 5G is a new technology, there still needs to be more research to rule out any health concerns completely.

The reasons why your next purchase should be a Samsung

People I met today ask me why I chose to be a traveller and a trailblazer. Of countless reasons why I found my higher calling in traveling is because little did I know about the nooks and crannies, and treasures of the places in Bhutan. Finding literature and travel articles on Bhutan, particularly about places, people, and culture, took a lot of work to find online. 

In 2018 I decided to forge into the untrodden places in Bhutan. So I extensively travelled within the kingdom, from lofty unclimbed mountains to sweltering foothills to the last surviving nomads capturing Bhutan's diverse physical and cultural landscapes. 

As a traveller, as much as I travelled to places to seek peace and tranquillity, striving to escape the reality of life, I wanted to stay connected to the people, friends, and family despite being miles away from them. What kept me connected was the TashiCell Network.

Keeping up with the change through 5G

When eSIM or embedded SIM technology was introduced in Bhutan, I did not see a reason why I should get it because my phone already had two SIM card slots. However, after returning from a trip abroad, I found out that my TashiCell SIM card was damaged in the process of inserting it back into my phone. This gave me the opportunity to switch to eSIM instead of getting a new physical replacement.

The process of switching to eSIM was surprisingly easy. It was quicker than getting a physical SIM because all I had to do was scan the QR code provided by TashiCell. I was fascinated by how this new technology has transformed the way we connect to mobile networks, offering a wide range of flexibility and convenience that I have discovered since getting it.

**Convenience**: With eSIM, you don't need to physically insert or remove a SIM card from your device, which is less stressful on your device. And if you travel frequently and need to switch between different networks in different countries, you don’t have to worry about taking care of your Bhutanese SIM. Simply scan the QR code and you're connected to the new network.

**Flexibility**: If your phone has more than one SIM slot, then you already know how that allows you to have different networks and plans to switch between. However, eSIM gives you the option to have multiple numbers beyond your phone’s physical SIM capacity. It will be a liberating factor, especially for iPhone users who are limited by its stubbornness to have just one SIM slot. With eSIM, iPhone users can accommodate more than one SIM, yet leave the physical SIM slot to add another number for close friends and family.

**Versatility**: With eSIM not requiring any physical space inside your device, it’s a game-changer particularly for smaller devices like smartwatches, fitness trackers, and remote security cameras. It also opens up the possibility for laptops to have eSIM to connect to the internet, presenting new technology potentials waiting to be harnessed. 

**Security**: eSIM can be more secure than traditional SIM cards as the information is stored on a chip within the device rather than on a removable card that can be lost or stolen. However, the risk of it being hacked remains the same as it did with the traditional SIM.

**Environmentally friendly**: eSIM eliminates the need for plastic SIM cards, which can be environmentally harmful. Considering the millions of SIM cards across the world that need not be produced in the future, eSIM can be nicknamed the environment SIM.

The only bad news is that eSIM is supported only in newer devices. Check if your phone has the eSIM feature, and if it does, there's no need to wait any longer to switch. If your phone doesn't have the feature, remember to look for eSIM capability the next time you invest in a new phone.
